FFNC Slug and Snail List for Boonah Area

The following native species have been recorded in the Boonah district.

Pedinogyra rotabilis, Southern Flat-coiled Snail 

On the 16th June 2018 the Fassifern Field Naturalists under the guidance of Dr John Stanisic and Lorelle Holcroft collected snails from the summit of Mt French on the Mee-bor-rum Circuit. We had an authorised permit. Below are the snails and semi-slugs identified by Stanisic & Holcroft. [The other areas in brackets where these species have been recorded were taken from the Atlas of Living Australia website.]

Allopeas gracile, Graceful Awlsnail (Maroon Dam)
Fastosarion virens, Fine-speckled Semi-slug (Cunningham’s Gap)
Gastrocopta pediculus, Weakly Toothed Pupasnail (near Maroon)
Gyrocochlea raveni, Raven’s Pinwheel Snail 
Mussonena boonah, Boonah Bristle Snail (Mt Edwards, and near Maroon)
Nitor pudibunda, Pink Glass-snail (The Head, Mt Roberts, Mt Superbus.)
Paralaoma morti, Mort’s Pinhead Snail 
Ponderconcha gilberti, Darling Downs Woodland Snail (Cunningham’s Gap, Spicers Gap, The Head, Mt Blaine, Flinders Peak)
Pseudechotrida mikros, Tiny Carnivorous Snail (Mt Whitestone)
Sphaerospira fraseri, Fraser’s Banded Snail (Boonah, Reynold’s Ck Mt Edwards, Maroon Dam, also near Maroon)
Signepupina strangei, Dwarf Chrysalis-snail (Mt Edwards, Black Rock Scrub, Maroon Dam)

Introduced species have two pairs of tentacles, rather than one pair as in many native snails and slugs. The following introduced species are also found in the gardens of the Boonah area:
